A dental crown (cap) fully encases the visible portion of a tooth above the gumline, restoring its shape, size, strength, and appearance. Crowns are recommended when a tooth is too compromised for a filling to provide adequate support — whether due to a large cavity, a crack, wear, or structural damage following root canal therapy.
At Dentist, we use CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) technology to design, mill, and deliver your permanent crown in a single appointment. There is no need for a temporary crown, no second visit, and no waiting two weeks for a lab to return your restoration.
CEREC: How Same-Day Crowns Work
After preparing the tooth, we take a precise intraoral digital scan — eliminating the uncomfortable impression material used in traditional crown procedures. The scan data is imported into CEREC design software, where your crown is digitally crafted to match your bite and adjacent tooth morphology. The design is sent wirelessly to our in-office milling unit, which carves the crown from a solid block of high-strength ceramic in approximately 15 minutes. The crown is glazed, stained for shade accuracy, crystallized in a furnace, and cemented permanently — all within your single appointment.
Crown Materials
We offer full-zirconia crowns for posterior (back) teeth requiring maximum strength, and lithium disilicate (e.max) crowns for anterior (front) teeth where lifelike translucency is the priority. Both materials are completely metal-free, providing a natural appearance with no dark gumline margins.
Crown Lifespan & Maintenance
With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, CEREC crowns routinely last 10–15 years or longer. Avoid chewing hard objects (ice, hard candy) and wear a night guard if you grind your teeth to maximize crown longevity.
