Orthodontic braces use a system of brackets bonded to each tooth and connected by archwires that apply gentle, continuous pressure to gradually move teeth into their correct positions. Braces correct a wide range of alignment issues — from simple crowding to complex bite problems — and remain the most effective orthodontic treatment available for comprehensive tooth and jaw correction.

At Dentist, orthodontic treatment is led by Dr. Linda Chen — a board-certified specialist in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. We treat patients of all ages, from early intervention in children as young as seven to adult orthodontic treatment for patients in their 50s and beyond.

Types of Braces We Offer

Metal braces use stainless steel brackets and wires — the most durable and cost-effective option, ideal for complex cases and younger patients. Ceramic braces use tooth-colored brackets that blend with the enamel, providing a less noticeable appearance while maintaining the same treatment effectiveness. Self-ligating braces use a sliding mechanism instead of elastic ties, reducing friction and potentially shortening treatment time for some cases.

What Braces Can Correct

Braces are effective for crowded or overlapping teeth, gaps between teeth, deep overbite, underbite, crossbite, open bite, and midline discrepancies. They are the treatment of choice for severe alignment issues that exceed the limits of clear aligner therapy, and for growing patients where jaw guidance is part of the treatment plan.

The Treatment Timeline

Treatment typically runs 12–36 months depending on the complexity of the case. You visit us approximately every 4–6 weeks for wire adjustments and progress evaluation. Soreness for 2–5 days following each adjustment is normal and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. Treatment concludes with debonding of the brackets and delivery of custom retainers.

Retainers After Braces

Retainers are not optional — they are an essential part of treatment. Teeth have a natural tendency to shift back toward their original positions, particularly in the first two years after braces. We provide fixed (bonded) retainers for the front teeth and removable clear retainers for nightly wear. Retainer compliance determines whether your results last a lifetime.
